I AM A PHOTOGRAPHER – NOT A TERRORIST!

All over the world, the terrorists are clapping their hands with delight as more and more normal people are being subjected to harassment, restrictions and freedom attacks. The terrorists are clapping their hands because they don’t even have to lift a finger to achieve this – our own governments are doing their jobs for them!

Try taking photos in a Mall or shopping centre, or on a train station, or on the street …… it’s getting harder and harder to do so without being harassed, questioned, abused or even arrested.

ART is at stake. More important than that, FREEDOM is at stake. It’s a message being sent by Thousands of British Photographers.

So this weeks Redbubblers blog features just 3 items. All t-shirts. All aimed at sending a similar message. Don’t be afraid of who you are or what you do. Be proud of it, and let the world know!

(If you like them, click through to purchase – they do come in other colours and styles)

It’s time to stand up and be counted.

Terrorists from other countries are bad enough but terrorists in the form of our own governments is just tooo much!

7 Days into 2010

It’s the seventh day of the new year – of the new decade.

Is our world being held hostage? Are we the keepers of the planet or the gaolers?

This is the question posed by Lightsmith on the RedBubble site.

It’s time for a little magic …

Sometimes Art is gritty, is real, is life. But who needs more of life? Sometimes we need what life cannot give us. Sometimes we need a little magic.

I want to introduce an artist who is truly a portal into a magical reality that delivers the type of wonder and joy that life, all too often, fails to provide us. Her name is Stephanie Rachel Seely and as it says on her site, she brings to you Anything You Imagine.

Take a peek at the following tiny sample of her world of wonder and delight.

The Sky’s the Limit

The Australian International Airshow has just come to a fantastic conclusion and a very special group of photographic artists known collectively as the Geelong Throng made it their focus in life (if you’ll pardon the pun) to capture the event for all to see. There are jets, props, parachutes – and much, much more. Just take a look at the samples below – whether you got to the airshow or not, they’ve got lots to get the pulse racing.

Click on the following examples to check out the wonderful Avalon Airshow by the various artists:

Fire Storm

Australia and especially Victoria is suffering from dreadful bushfires. Many homes but more importantly, many lives have been lost. This is a disaster, described by Victoria’s Premiere – John Brumby – as The Worst Day in our History

What has this to do with art though?

In an attempt to help raise funds for victims of the fire storms that have and are raging in Victoria, some members of RedBubble have decided to donate the profits from their work – and in some cases match the sale price of their work – in dontations to fire victims.

If you want to do something for yourself AND for the fire victims, surf on over to The Phoenix Appeal and buy a card, some wall-art – whatever.

Here are just a few of the items available – check them out.

Time for Nirvana

The Buddhists call it ‘Nirvana’ – a state of perfect being devoid of all suffering.

I can’t offer you that, but I have located an exceptional RedBubble artist who can give you a glimpse of it. Her name is Naomi Frost and much of her talent lies with the bringing of heaven down to earth. Her portfolio will stun and amaze you. Take a look at just three examples of heaven:

Nirvana

In Zen there is understanding in non-understanding. At least, there may be. But this image reaches deep into the mind, past the bars of conceptualization. Here, then, is a touch of Nirvana.

Innocence

Where would heaven be found more simply, than in childhood innocence?

Sommersby Cascade

If you think it’s time to find that little bit of nirvana, that little bit of heaven, then here’s your chance.

I want to introduce you to a great RedBubble artist by the name of Larry Davis.

For once I am not going to rabbit on about the fantastic artwork that this remarkable man has produced. Pictures, as they say, speak louder than words, so I am going to take it one step further. Click on either of the two items below to watch videos of his brilliant photography.

Many, if not all, of his photographs are available for purchase and I must say that to hang a Larry Davis on your wall has got to be one of the greater joys in life. So go check out his portfolio as soon as you can.

Start the New Year on a high!

Christmas has gone and the New Year is here. Time for a fresh new start in life and what better way to do that than to sweep aside those dusty photos of granny or last years holidays and to replace them with some truly magnificent artwork that will bring a freshness and newness to your home all the year through.

There’s an artist on RedBubble who could be just what you are looking for. Her name is Cindy Perrinjaquet and here are just a couple of images that really stood out in her portfolio.

Paw Proud

Is this the definitive dog picture? It may well be. There’s no mistaking the subject of this wonderful image – man’s best friend. But it’s no cutesy-cutesy puppy snap – rather it’s like a distillation of all that is dog. This is a superb exercise in simplicity and complexity that will touch your heart every single day that you see it.

This is dog.

and then, from a totally different perspective,

Green Veins

Fresh, spacious, natural – this image promises and delivers on all of these. It brings a quality of tranquility and calm with it that almost defies it’s vivid, almost in-your-face green. Nature without the bugs. No home could be drab with this piece on its walls. No life could be dull with this to brighten each day. Can you hear the tree-frogs? Can you smell the rain forest’s scented leaves? Can you hear the gentle trickling of a busy stream?

Time to go green.
